Phonics - Movement - Language
Active Stories is a phonics, movement and language programme for 2–4 year olds, built around one idea: young children learn sounds and language best when their whole body is involved, not just their ears.
Every session links three things most programmes treat separately:
- Phonics — hearing and playing with the sounds inside words
- Movement — linking every sound to a whole-body action
- Language — building vocabulary, sentences and confident communication
All of it delivered through stories, not worksheets — because a 2, 3 or 4 year old learns by moving, not by sitting still.
Why we built this
Spend enough time around early years settings and you notice something: in some rooms, physical development is woven into everything a child does. In others, it barely gets a mention.
Earlier this year we published our own research digging into exactly this gap across the early-years sector — what the evidence shows, and what it still can't tell us. Active Stories is our answer to what we found: a programme built around how young children actually develop, not around what's easiest to deliver.
